I am a Senior Multi-disciplinary Data & Technology Subject Matter Expert (SME) and hands-on contractor, with a current market focus on Microsoft Purview and Data Governance. My experience follows a comb-shaped capability model: broad knowledge across technology, data and cloud, combined with deep subject matter expertise across multiple specialist disciplines. Alongside Microsoft Purview and Data Governance, my experience spans Enterprise and Data Architecture, Metadata Management, Data Engineering, Azure/AWS, Agile delivery and IT Service Management. I work from business and governance requirements through solution definition, architecture and design into hands-on configuration, engineering and implementation. This is particularly valuable in complex Data Governance programmes, where governance, architecture, engineering, cloud, security and delivery cannot be treated as separate problems. I provide senior technical and solution leadership, make pragmatic design decisions, coordinate multidisciplinary contributors and take responsibility for getting work implemented, while remaining hands-on rather than operating solely in an advisory or management capacity. Recent UK Government engagements have focused on Microsoft Purview Unified Catalog, Data Map and Data Health, including Governance Domains, Data Products, Data Assets, Glossary Terms, CDEs, OKRs, ownership and stewardship, RBAC, metadata, Data Quality, lineage, classifications, sensitivity, workflows, source onboarding and automation. My wider technical background means I understand what Purview is governing: business semantics, data models, technical metadata, data platforms, pipelines, security controls and physical Data Assets.
